PM Modi to Meet President Amid Talk of Cabinet Expansion

PM Modi will visit the presidential palace Rashtrapati Bhawan today for "Gurbani" or Sikh prayers to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
Reports suggest the prime minister could bring in cabinet changes as soon as Sunday.
There are currently 22 cabinet members and another 22 ministers of state, including 10 with independent charge. Many party heavyweights like Nitin Gadkari lead multiple ministries. Arun Jaitley doubles up as Finance and Defence Minister.

Manohar Parrikar, the Chief Minister of Goa, has declined to comment on speculation that he will soon become the country's Defence Minister. After meeting PM Modi yesterday, he told reporters, "I came here to discuss Goa issues. He did not say anything about that (becoming a union minister)...you should ask him."

Mr Parrikar also met BJP president Amit Shah yesterday, after which he said, "I will speak only after meeting the Prime Minister."
